In current debates on the intersections of media, communication, and religious studies, the field of digital religion continues to gain academic attention. While acknowledging the role of technological affordances in transforming communication dynamics, our primary interest lies in the transformative potential of digital culture as a space for mingling spiritual and religious practices.

​This year's workshop, held under the theme Belonging in the Time of Displacement, focuses on how spiritual and religious communities are (re)shaped in digital environments marked by various forms of displacement — whether physical, cultural, political, existential, or social. We invite contributions that explore how digital religion navigates crises of identity, mobility, and community in a world increasingly shaped by fragmentation or forced displacement.

Key questions include:

• How do spiritual leaders, religious institutions, and believers utilize digital platforms to construct belonging — or enforce exclusion?

• What new forms of religious participation or disaffiliation emerge in digital environments?

• How are religion, spirituality, and non-belief represented, constructed, or contested online?

• How are extremism, hate speech, or radicalization linked to religious expression in digital spaces?
